A Message from Our Director

All parents aim for their children to be given the greatest opportunity to grow into healthy, intelligent and useful members of society.  Early childhood education has an integral part in the development of a human being, which Fuji International Kindergarten Specialises in.

At Fuji International Kindergarten, we ensure that the time your child stays with us, will be happy, successful and rewarding, both for yourself and your child. We believe this can best be achieved through the co-operation of parents and teachers, working together for the benefit of the children.

Fuji International Kindergarten recognises and values the contributions children and their families make to centere life by virtue of their background, insights, individual expressions and needs.

All staff work with children to effect worthwhile and significant outcomes from child centered and familial initiatives. The strength of the program lies in an integral free-flow approach to learning (i.e. that knowledge is linked to exploration, enquiry, investigation, experimentation, discovery, evaluation and recording. Knowledge is not acquired in isolation nor is it derived from an adult-directed focus in a structured context). Planning considers personal well-being and the provision of developmentally appropriate educational and life skill experiences within an aesthetically pleasing, harmonious environment.

Staff and management are advocates for the right of children to an 'unhurried childhood', free from academic pressure. In addition, that they are the beneficiaries of an anti-bias curriculum which endorses access, equity and maintenance of a child's first language.

Support of cultural values and respect for the diversity of families is at the heart of Fuji's beliefs and practices.


Programs

Technology is integrated though computer lessons, videos, tape recorders and CDs.

Children learn through a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials, emphasising practical learning experiences. The program provides:

a) a clear set of goals related to promoting development of skills in children

b) allows for observation and assessment of the children's individual needs and interests

c) nurtures each child's self-esteem, from different cultures, values, minority groups, disabilities and children with other special needs

d) meets the individual needs of children from different cultures, values, minority groups, disabilities and children with other special needs

e) is flexible, balanced, responsive to the child's present ability, interests and emerging skills at a pace to suit the child's capabilities

f) focus on the readiness of the 3 Rs: reading, writing and arithmetic

The daily program information is displayed for parents to read and is sensitive to the parents wishes for their children while they are at the Child Care Centre.

Our daily programs incorporate a wide variety of creative experiences which include:

  • Musical appreciation and dance
  • Health, nutrition and cooking
  • Environmental awareness, gardening, their own vegetable, herb and flower gardens
  • Carpentry
  • Clay
  • Physical education
  • Painting and pasting
  • Science
  • Language and stories
  • Experiences combined with free play, indoors and outdoors, including swimming
  • Japanese language
A brief overview of each section of our centre from Toddlers, Young Learners, Junior Kindy, Senior Kindy, Preschool and Prep will give you a little more insight into the individual programming relevant to the age of the children.
